KYIV. His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr Celebrated Divine Liturgy at Kytayivo Hermitage

On Sunday, December 27, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church called to the Holy Trinity Monastery of Kyiv (Kytayivo Hermitage), where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the main church.

Concelebrating to him were Deputy Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Archbishop Pavel of Vyshgorod, Secretary for the UOC Primate Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, Superior of the Holy Entrance of the Theotokos Monastery archimandrite Damian (Davidov), Superior of the Holy Trinity St. Jonah's Monastery archimandrite Jonah (Cherepanov), the monastery clergy.

Before the divine office the Archpastor performed altar consecration of the Holy Trinity Church, which had been lately returned to the monastery.

At the Liturgy (the Lesser Entrance) the Primate bestowed church awards on some monastery clergymen.  In particular, hegumen Illya (Radziuk) was elevated to the rank of archimandrite, and hieromonk Pimen (Pavlov) - to the rank of hegumen.

Also at the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr His Grace Alexander ordained to diaconate the monastery monk Leontiy (Kryvenko).

At the end of the office His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr greeted the clergy and faithful on Sunday and the days of preparation to the great feast of the Nativity of Christ and wished everyone salvation and  God's mercy.

Also the Archpastor thanked the philanthropists helping to revive the ancient monastery and conferred on them the orders of the Pochayiv Icon of the Mother of God". Thus, the districtions were granted to the people's deputy of Ukraine Vadim Kolesnichenko, director general of  "Kyivvodokanal" Yartoslav Filatov.

To the point.  It is known that the first settlers, the monks from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra appeared in the territory of Kytai-Hora in the 16-17th centuries. The monastery was founded in the mountain. In the 30-ties of the previous century the monastery was liquidated.
