KYIV. His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr Celebrated Divine Liturgy at Kytayivo Hermitage
On Sunday, December 27, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church called to the Holy Trinity
Monastery of Kyiv (Kytayivo Hermitage), where he celebrated the Divine Liturgy
at the main church.
Concelebrating
to him were Deputy Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Archbishop
Pavel of Vyshgorod, Secretary for the UOC Primate Bishop Alexander of
Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, Superior of the Holy Entrance of the Theotokos
Monastery archimandrite Damian (Davidov), Superior of the Holy Trinity St.
Jonah's Monastery archimandrite Jonah (Cherepanov), the monastery clergy.
Before
the divine office the Archpastor performed altar consecration of the Holy Trinity
Church, which had been
lately returned to the monastery.
At
the Liturgy (the Lesser Entrance) the Primate bestowed church awards on some
monastery clergymen. In particular,
hegumen Illya (Radziuk) was elevated to the rank of archimandrite, and
hieromonk Pimen (Pavlov) - to the rank of hegumen.
Also
at the blessing of Metropolitan Volodymyr His Grace Alexander ordained to
diaconate the monastery monk Leontiy (Kryvenko).
At
the end of the office His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr greeted the clergy
and faithful on Sunday and the days of preparation to the great feast of the
Nativity of Christ and wished everyone salvation and God's mercy.
Also
the Archpastor thanked the philanthropists helping to revive the ancient
monastery and conferred on them the orders of the Pochayiv Icon of the Mother
of God". Thus, the districtions were granted to the people's deputy of Ukraine
Vadim Kolesnichenko, director general of
"Kyivvodokanal" Yartoslav Filatov.
To the point. It is known that the first settlers, the monks from the
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra appeared in the territory
of Kytai-Hora in the
16-17th centuries. The monastery was founded in the mountain. In the 30-ties of the previous century the monastery was liquidated.
