KYIV. Before Presidential Elections UOC Primate Conducted Prayer Service at Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On February 6, before the second round of elections of the President of Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr conducted prayer service before beginning of every good deed at the Church of Exaltation of the Cross of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Before the Divine service the Archpastor addressed those attending with a word of instruction:

«On the eve of a very important event we have gathered here to pray for the welfare of our country. The Church always prays that everything went quiet and well in the country, in the Church and in the land we live in.   And we pray too that the Lord performed His will, blessed the One he pleases for the future hard cross-bearing.

Praying with the clergy was also the candidate for the President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych,   who visited Lavra together with his party fellows in order to bow unto its shrines and to ask God for help in the further enterprise for the benefit of the Church, the state and its citizens.

Following the prayer service His Beatitude and the leader of the Party of Regions bowed unto the wonderworking icon of the Dormition of the Mother of God.
