KYIV. UOC Primate Met with Newly Appointed USA Ambassador
OnMarch 5, the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church received
at his residence at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra the newly appointed Ambassador of the
USA
to Ukraine John Teft.
In the course of conversation the high guest took
interest in the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, its relations with the
other orthodox and non-orthodox confessions, as well as in the history of the
Ukrainian state. Also Mr. Ambassador expressed
his joy that it was namely Ukraine
he was appointed to (previously he was assigned to the countries of the Eastern
Europe, namely Lithuania, Georgia, Hungary). Besides, John Teft
expressed hope of the future good cooperation between the Church and the
Embassy.
In his turn, the Archpastor answered the guest's questions and asked him about
his first impressions of his stay in Ukraine.
At the end, the
sides exchanged souvenir gifts.
