In compliance with the decision of the Holy
Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of March 5, present year (Journal No. 27)
and with the approval of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine,
the clergyman of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church archpriest Mykhayil Povalyaev
was appointed to serve in Italy "for the pastoral care of the Ukrainian
Orthodox diaspora" in this country.
According to archpriest Mykolai Danylevych, who is in charge of the foreign
parishes issue at the Department of the External Church Relations of the UOC, Fr. Mykhayil
will perform his ministry at the Church of the Holy Great Martyress Catherine in
Rome".
According to unofficial returns, there are about one million of our compatriots
working and living in the territory
of Italy.
