COMMETARY. Deputy Chairman of the UOC DECR Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy
On the works of
Yuriy Reshetnikov, marked by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
«For the period that
Yuriy Reshetnikov heads the State Committee for Nationalities and Religions, the
highly constructive relations have been established between the Kyiv Metropolis
of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its separate departments with the cabinet
of Ministers through the respective plenipotentiary body", noted Vladyka
Alexander.
As it is known, very much depends on the person
that heads one or another committee or organization. Properly speaking, Yuriy
Reshetnikov possesses such personal qualities as positive tuning towards
cooperation, mutual understanding and adoption of the positive decisions on
many issues raising within the period of our cooperation.
Since May 2009, when Yuriy Reshetnikov was
appointed head of the State Committee for Nationalities and Religions, in
Ukraine many events of socio-historical nature has happened, in whose
organization and conduction both the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as well as the
respective state authorities has invested much effort. On what
was done one can read in particular in the annual report of the Department for
External Church Relations of the UOC. Yuriy Reshetnikov was directly involved in all those events. In particular,
the arrival of Patriarch Kirill to Ukraine should be singled out,
organized under the command of Yuriy Reshetnikov. Many decisions have been adopted for the benefit of the Church within this period.
In particular, Bishop
Alexander noted that it Yuriy Reshetnikov is pleasant to work with, since he is
the state official of the new formation, which builds constructively the
relations of the committee he is in charge of, unlike his predecessors, brought up to the principles of the soviet
power." Internet-portal
