KYIV. Chairmen of the UOC Synodal Departments Met with Director of Children’s Cardiology and Cardiosurgical Center

On March 15 at the Center of Children's Cardiology and Cardiosurgery the working meeting of the heads of the Synodal Departments of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church "Mission of Social Aid to Children" archimandrite Philaret Kucherov and "Mission Church and Medicine" archpriest George Batenko with the Center's director Ilya Emets was held.   

Taking part in the working meeting were the leading specialists of the medical institution.  

The perspective tasks in the field of cooperation of the Church and the Center of Cardiosurgery were discussed. The group of doctors and scientists discussed urgent questions on preparation of the theological-medical conference on using the umbilical blood in Cardiosurgery at the first stages of life of the newborn with congenital heart disease. 

The center's administration worked out the address to metropolitan Volodymyr with a request to conduct the joint academic research conference. The theologians and specialists face the task to investigate the given program from the point of view of bioethics and the social concept of the Church.  

Reference: State educational institution "Academic and research medical center of children's cardiology and Cardiosurgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" (further on - the Center), is a main methodical and therapeutic establishment performing the diagnostics, medicament treatment and surgery correction of the congenital heart and vascular diseases of the children. In the center the correction of the complex heart diseases is being carried out, irrespective of the patient's age, the Center's strategy is aimed at the early diagnostics of the pathologies and  timely correction of the deficiencies for promoting high efficiency of the treatment.
