KYIV. His Beatitude Volodymyr Chaired the Session of Youth Synodal Department


 

On March 16 at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra the session of the Synodal Department of the UOC for Youth Affairs presided over by the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Taking part in the work were also Archbishop Gurias of Zhytomyr and Novohrad-Volynskyy, deputy chairmen archimandrite Gabriel (Kryzyna) and archimandrite Jonah (Cherepanov), secretary of the department archimandrite Theodosius (Snihiriov) and Secretary for the Primate of the UOC Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy.  

In the course of the session the draft concept of the development of the state-church relations in the filed of the youth ministry was discussed and the list of questions prepared to be raised by Metropolitan Volodymyr during his future meeting with the Minister of Youth, Family and Sports.   

Reference. Department of the UOC for Youth Affairs was set up at the decision of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine and the Holy Synod of the UOC of April 23, 2002. The chief purpose of the Department is the elaboration of the programs of the Church's work with the youth, the coordination of the work on the spiritual-moral education of the  new generation, missionary and social service of the youth.
