LUTSK. Museum of Volyn Icon received facsimile edition of the Peresopnytsia Gospels
OnApril 21, following the Divine Liturgy, at the Church of All Saints of the Lands of Volyn in Lutsk the solemn ceremony of donation of the facsimile copy of
the Peresopnytsia Gospels to the Museum
of Volyn Icon was
performed.
The
festivities were held with participation of the Primate of the Ukrainian
Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and the diocesan clergy, as well as the representatives of the regional
and city authorities, in particular, of the deputy city mayor Anatoliy
Parkhomyuk.
In
his turn, director of the Regional Studies Museum Anatoliy Syliuk offered His
Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr an Icon of the Mother of God of Chelm as a
keepsake.
Thus,
upon passing of the facsimile copy of the Peresopnytsia Gospels to the Museum of Volyn Icon
all those willing will be able to get better acquainted with the cultural and
spiritual heritage of Ukraine, and
the Gospel will become real decoration of the museum collection.
The
Peresopnytsia Gospel is a prominent handwritten and artistic record of the
middle of the XVI century, the first of the known translations of the Holy
Scripture into old Ukrainian. In 2007 at the blessing of the primate of the
Ukrainian Orthodox Church the Kyiv Metropolis together with the NSAU had launched
a wide project for its reproduction.
Note
that the presentations of the Peresopnytsia has already taken place in many
countries of the world, in particular, in the USA, Canada, Great Britain,
Poland, Israel and a number of Ukrainian cities, such as Kyiv, Donetsk, Lviv,
Nizhyn etc.
