LUTSK. Museum of Volyn Icon received facsimile edition of the Peresopnytsia Gospels

On April 21, following the Divine Liturgy, at the Church of All Saints of the Lands of Volyn in Lutsk the solemn ceremony of donation of the facsimile copy of the Peresopnytsia Gospels to the Museum of Volyn Icon was performed.

The festivities were held with participation of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and the diocesan clergy, as well as the representatives of the regional and city authorities, in particular, of the deputy city mayor Anatoliy Parkhomyuk.

In his turn, director of the Regional Studies Museum Anatoliy Syliuk offered His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr an Icon of the Mother of God of Chelm as a keepsake.

Thus, upon passing of the facsimile copy of the Peresopnytsia Gospels to the Museum of Volyn Icon all those willing will be able to get better acquainted with the cultural and spiritual heritage  of Ukraine, and the Gospel will become real decoration of the museum collection.

The Peresopnytsia Gospel is a prominent handwritten and artistic record of the middle of the XVI century, the first of the known translations of the Holy Scripture into old Ukrainian. In 2007 at the blessing of the primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church the Kyiv Metropolis together with the NSAU had launched a wide project for its reproduction.

Note that the presentations of the Peresopnytsia has already taken place in many countries of the world, in particular, in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Poland, Israel and a number of Ukrainian cities, such as Kyiv, Donetsk, Lviv, Nizhyn etc.
