His Eminence Archbishop of Vyshgorod Pavel
was born on April, 19, 1961 in the village of Borbin, Mlynov district, Rivne
region. After graduation from school he studied in Lutsk Trade College.
After his service in the Soviet Army he
entered the Moscow Theological Seminary, from which he graduated in 1988.
On 24 May 1986 he was ordained to the Holy
Diaconate, and on 7 January 1988
was ordained to the Holy Priesthood.
In 1988 he became presiding priest of the Holy Dormition Church in the village of Nizkinichi,
Ivanychy district, Volyn region, one of the oldest churches in Ukraine, now the
Holy Dormition Monastery.
On 26 June 1989 he was tonsured to monastic
rank and was given the name Pavel (in honour of the Holy Glorious and
All-Praised Leader of the Apostles Paul). In May 1992 he was elevated to the rank
of Archimandrite, and on 30 March 1994 he was appointed Superior of the Holy
Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
In 1996 he graduated from Kyiv Theological
Seminary.
On 19 April 1997 was consecrated to the
episcopacy with the title of Bishop of Vyshgorod, Vicar of the Metropolitan of
Kiev and All Ukraine. Later on he chaired the Commission to the Holy Synod on
Monasteries of the UOC.
On 9 July 2003 he was elevated to the rank
of Archbishop.

- the Order of Metropolitan Tikhon (Fund of the Holy Hierarch Tikhon).
