On May 23, 2008, at 11.00 a.m. the academic research conference "Peresopnytsia
Gospels - a shrine of the Ukrainian nation", dedicated to the facsimile edition
of the Peresopnytsia Gospels will take place.
The event will take
place by the following address: Kyiv, Volodymyrska str. 57, Kyiv Teachers'
House.
A copy of facsimile reprint will be given to President of the National Academy
of Science of Ukraine B.E. Paton.
All the stages of facsimile restoration of the record, the scientific data
received in the course of study and restoration of the texts will be revealed
in the following reports of the scientists of NANU and of the teachers of Kyiv Theological
Academy and Seminary:
- by Doctor of Historical Science, professor and academician of the NAS of
Ukraine, Director of Archaeology Institute of the NASU P.P.Tolochko "Historical

Also the film "Peresopnytsia Gospels" will be shown. The exposition of rare
editions "Treasures of Spirituality" from the collection of the Primate of the
UOC His Beatitude Volodymyr will function on the premises of the Teachers'
House.
Upon the
completion of the conference Metropolitan Volodymyr will be giving out of the personal
certifications to the patrons of facsimile edition of the Peresopnytsia Gospels
will take place.

Additional Information
The Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in cooperation with the
national Academy of Science of Ukraine has started the program of
restoration of the Peresopnytsia Gospels, one of the most precious spiritual
records, which became a national symbol of our state, onto which the Presidents
of Ukraine take their oath.
The initiative of facsimile reprint was supported by those who think it
necessary to become familiar with the spiritual enlightenment of our nation and
to promote preaching the Lord's word to our compatriots, since only nationwide
awareness of our state's historical and cultural inheritance can guarantee
stable development and happy future of Ukraine. The
measures taken for preserving and popularization of the Peresopnytsia Gospels
as a national record of religious literature are included into the Decree of
the President of Ukraine № 256/2008 on celebration of the 1020th
anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus.
