On Friday, May 30, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko visited His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr at his Primate residence in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

was accompanied by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Victor Baloga and his
deputy Yuriy
Bohutskyi. On the part of the
Ukrainian Orthodox Church taking part in the meeting were Executive
Administrator of the UOC Archbishop Mytrofan of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav,
Rector of the Kyiv
Theological Academy
and Seminary Bishop Anthony of Boryspil, Secretary
to the Primate of the UOC Bishop Alexander
of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyi.
The purpose of the visit of the high guests was to congratulate the Archpastor on
the 16th anniversary of his Primate ministry. This prominent date was celebrated
by all fullness of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on May 27.
Congratulating the Most Blessed Vladyka, President of Ukraine wished him good
health, strength for the further wise rule, for his service to God and people,
the Church and the state. Victor Yushchenko
presented the primate the sculpture image of the Holy Equal-to-the Apostles
prince Vladimir. During the conversation the issues of celebration of the 1020th anniversary of the
Baptism of Rus were discussed. Besides, His
Beatitude metropolitan Volodymyr showed the President a fresh copy of the facsimile
edition of the Peresopnytsia Gospels, and the official handing over of the
record will take place during the festive presentation on July 20 of the
present year.
