KYIV. His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr to Present Every Blind Ukrainian with a Tactile Icon


 

The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine will present blind Ukrainians with the icons which can be "seen by touch". This event dedicated to celebration of the 1020th anniversary of Baptism of Rus is to take place within the framework of the charitable marathon "Unseen Light of Faith", organised by the Sector of Spiritual and Educational Projects of the UOC. The icon displays the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir who is also considered the patron of the blind. In total the UOC plans to manufacture some 40 thousand of tactile icons - for each blind Ukrainian.

The print of the first 10 000 tactile icons, their sanctification by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and their transfer to the representatives of the Fellowship of the Blind is to take place on July 15 at 12:00 in the city of Bucha, Kirova str., 2 zh (Publishing House "ADEF-Ukraine").

Director of the Central Specialized Library for the blind and weak-sighted after M.Ostrovsky Yuriy Vyshniakov.
