On
Wednesday, July 23, at the Primate's residence in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra the
extraordinary session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took
place, presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr. Taking part in the work of the Synod were the
following hierarchs:
- Metropolitan Agathangel of Odesa and Izmayil,
- Metropolitan Ioannikiy of Luhansk and Alchevsk,
- Metropolitan Onuphriy of Chernivtsi
and Bukovyna,
- Metropolitan
Iriney of Dnipropetrovsk and Pavlohrad,
- Metropolitan Lazar of Crimea and Simferopol,
- Metropolitan Ilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol,
- Archbishop Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv,
- Archbishop Mytrofan of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav,
- Archbishop Feodor of Kamyanetsk-Podilskyi and Gorodok,
- Archbishop Sophroniy of Kaniv and Cherksasy,
- Archbishop Vissarion of Ovruch and Korosten,
- Archbishop Pytyrym of Mykolayiv and Voznesensk,
- Bishop Amvrosiy of Chernihiv and Novhorod-Siverskyi,
- Bishop Panteleimon of Oleksandriya and Svitlovodsk,
- Bishop Nycodym of Volodymyr-Volynskyi and Kovel.
Taking part in the Synod also was Chairman of Department for External Church
Relations of the ROC Metropolitan Kiril of Kaliningrad and Smolensk.
In connection
with the events related to the
celebrations of the 1020th Anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, taking part in the capital nowadays, the Holy
Synod passed two official documents, namely: "Address to His All Holiness Archbishop
of Constantinople - New Rome and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I" and
"Address of the Holy Synod to the faithful children of the Ukrainian Orthodox
Church on the occasion of the visit of the Primates and representatives of the
Local Orthodox Churches to Ukraine".
