Bishop Nykodym (in the world - Victor Vasilevich Gorenko) was born on February 26, 1972 in the village of Zalesye, Chernobyl district of the Kyiv Region. After the death of his mother in 1980 his father married again, and the family moved to the constant place of residence to Chernobyl. In 1986 after the accident at the CNPP the family was evacuated to Kryvyi Rih.

In 1987 he entered the Musical School of Kryvyi Rih from which he graduated in 1991 with speciality "teacher of music and singing".

Throughout 1991-1993 did his military service; relegated to the reserve.

From 1995 he bore obedience in the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra; from July, 1996 he bore obedience to Archbishop of Volodymyr-Volynskyi and Kovel Symeon.

On December 14, 1996 he was ordained to the holy diaconate by Bishop Symeon in the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the Church of All the Venerable Fathers of Pechersk.

On December 25, 1996 he was appointed regular deacon to the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volynsk.

On December10, 1998 elevated to the rank of the protodeacon.

In 1998 he entered per correspondence sector of the Kyiv Theological Seminary which he graduated in 2002.

On June 3, 2001 in the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volynskyi he was ordained to the holy priesthood by Bishop Symeon. On March 2, 2002 in the same Church he was tonsured a monk by Bishop of Vyshgorod Pavel, with the name of Nycodym after St.Nicodemus, the secret pupil of Jesus Christ.

On May 19, 2002 he was elevated to the rank of hegumen by His Beatitude, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Volodymyr, and on September 24, 2003 - to the rank of archimandrite.

On November 21, 2002 he was awarded with ornamented cross.

On August 27, 2006 he was appointed secretary of the Diocese of Volodymyr-Volynskyi.

On May 31, 2007 by the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC he was elected to the post of Bishop of Shepetovka and Slavuta. The nomination took place on June 3, 2007 in the Synodal hall of the Kyiv Metropolis.

On June 4, 2007 he was ordained bishop.

Now he is a second year student of the Kyiv Theological Academy.

Bishop consecration ceremony of Vladyka took place on June, 4th, 2007 in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
