Bishop of Kremenchuk and Lubny Evlogy was born on March 21, 1967 in the city of Odesa.
In 1992 he graduated from the Odesa Theological Seminary and entered the Moscow Theological Academy, from which he graduated in 1999.
On August 20, 1991 he was appointed teacher of the Odesa Theological Seminary.
On October 20, 1991 he was tonsured a monk by Archbishop of Odesa and Izmayil Lazar (Shvets), and on October 27, 1991 he was ordained hierodeacon.
On August 19, 1992 he was elevated to the rank of hieromonk by Metropolitan of Odesa and Izmayil Agathangel.
On April 23, 1993 he was awarded pectoral cross.
On October 22, 1994 - elevated to the rank of hegumen.
From November 1994 till August, 1998 - Dean of the Holy Dormition Men's Monastery of Odesa.
Since 1995 he was on the Commission on Canonization of Saints to the Holy Synod of the UOC.
On April 28, he was awarded decorated cross, on December 13, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.
Since August 10, 1998 - Rector of the Odesa Theological Seminary.
Since August 2001 - member of diocesan council of the Diocese of Odesa.
Since August 2002 - member of the Canonical Commission to the Holy Synod of the UOC.
By the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC of November 14, 2007 archimandrite Evlogiy (Gutchenko) was appointed bishop of Kremenchuk and Khorol.
By the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC of May 8, 2008 he was appointed Chairman of the Synodal Theological Commission of the UOC (Journal № 40). By the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC of November 17, 2008 Bishop Evlogiy (Gutchenko) was tranferred to the Cathedra of Sumy. | |
