On July 26 at 17.00 the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church arrived to Ukraine. At the Boryspil Airport His Holiness the
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II was met by the Primate of the
Ukrainian Orthodox Church His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and the members
of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
At the airport the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church was met by Head of
the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine A.Yatsenyuk, Minister of Labour and Social Policy
of Ukraine M.Papiev, Deputy Head of the Presidential Secretariat of Ukraine
Y.Bogutskyi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian
Federation V.Chernomyrdin, leader of the Party of Regions Victor Yanukovych, representatives of the public organisation
"Day of the Baptism of Rus" O.Omelyanenko and V.Gorbal, people's deputies of
the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Kyiv State City
Administration V.Zhuravskyi.
In his address to the mass-media His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia expressed
his joy of his visit to Kyiv. He noted that he was glad to have a chance to visit the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra
(Kyiv Caves Monastery), to venerate the relics of the fathers of Kyiv Caves.
Also the Primate of the ROC recalled celebration of 1000 years of the Baptism
of Rus and noted that such festivities bring people to the Church. "I will be
happy to perform the divine service in Kyiv and to thank God for everything together
with all of you", he summed up.
Tomorrow, July 27, the Primate of the ROC will concelebrate to His All Holiness
Bartholomew I, Archbishop of Constantinople - the New Rome, Ecumenical
Patriarch, at the Liturgy held at Volodymyrska Gorka
in Kyiv.
On Monday, July 28, on
the commemoration day of the Holy Equal to the Apostles Prince Vladimir His
Holiness Patriarch Alexy II will preside over the Liturgy in the Kyiv-Pechersk
Lavra in the square in front of the Cathedral of Holy Dormition. | |
