Bishop of Berdyansk and
Primorsk Yelisey was born on June, 19, 1973 in the city of Shakhtarsk, Donetsk
Region, in the family of a coalminer. In 1979 the large family lost its mother, who died of
serious illness.
In 1980 he entered
the boarding school of Shakhtarsk, and graduated from it in 1988.
In 1989 he found a job of a millwright, combining
the job with the obedience of sexton in the Church of St.John the Theologian of
Shakhtarsk, and from
1992 in the St.Michael Cathedral of Donetsk.
From 1994 - vestry-clerk of
the St.Michael Church of Avdiyivka.
On June 3, 1996 he was
ordained deacon by Bishop of Slovyansk Alipiy (Pogrebnyak) in the St.George
Cathedral of Makiyivka. July, 27, 1996 in the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk
Monastery he was tonsured a monk by the locum tenens of the abode archimandrite
Arseniy (now Bishop of Svyatogorsk) with the name of the God's Holy Prophet
Elisha, and was assigned deacon at the St.Michael Church of Avdiyivka.
On August 4, 1996 he was
ordained to the holy priesthood.
On October 1, 1996 by the
decree of Metropolitan of Donetsk and Mariupol Ilarion he was appointed presiding
priest of the St.Michael Church of Avdiyivka.
In 1997 he entered
per correspondence department of the Odesa Theological Seminary, and graduated
in 2001.
In 1999 he was elevated to the rank of hegumen.
From 2001 he bore obedience
of the spiritual director of the Yasinuvate Deanery of the Donetsk Diocese.
In 2002 entered the Kyiv
Theological Academy, and completed his studies with Candidate of Theology
degree.
In 2004 he was
elevated to the rank of archimandrite. November 29, 2006 - appointed Dean of the Avdiyivka Deanery of the Donetsk Diocese.
Awarded with the Order of
the Ukrainian Orthodox Church "Nativity of Christ - 2000".
On March 29,
2007 by the decision of the Holy Synod of the UOC archimandrite Yelisey was appointed
Bishop of Amvrosiyivka, Vicar of the Donetsk Diocese.
On March 31,
2007 in the Refectory Church of the Holy Dormition
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra ordained
as Bishop of Amvrosiyivka, Vicar of the Donetsk Diocese. | |
