JOURNAL № 01


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine   -  

CONSIDERED the information of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the election and enthronement of the new Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

RESOLVED:
1. To take the information into consideration.  
2. To invite His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill  to make Archpastoral visit to Ukraine. 
3. To express hope that this visit will work for strengthening of the church unity and overcoming the church splits in Ukraine;
4. To create commission on preparation of the visit with Executive Administrator of the UOC, the Most Reverend Metrophanes, Archbishop of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav.
 

JOURNAL № 02


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the information of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine on bringing the relics of the Holy Hierarch Spyridon of Trimythous in the period between April 26 - May 26, present year.    

REFERENCE: On October 21, 2008 His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine sent letters to His Beatitude Archbishop Hieronymus II of Athens and His Eminence Metropolitan Nectarius of Kerkyra, Paxoi and Diapontioi Nisoi, asking to bless bringing the honourable hand of St. Spyridon, the Holy Hierarch and Wonderworker from the Greek island of Kerkyra (Corfu) to Ukraine. The Holy Synod of the Orthodox church of Greece, presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop Hieronymus, decided to meet this request, whereof they reported in a respective letter of December 12, 2008.    

With a purpose of conducting negotiations as for solution of the technical problems of bringing the relics from Greece, the delegation of the Ukrainian Othodox Church made a visit to Greece on February 10-11, 2009, consisting of deputy abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Archbishop Pavel of Vyshgorod and archpriest Mykolai Danylevych, co-worker of the Department for External Church Relations. The terms of stay of the relics in Ukraine were accorded with the Greek side: from April 26 till May 26, this year.



RESOLVED:

1. To extend gratitude to the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Greece and personally to His Beatitude Archbishop Hieronymus II of Athens and All Greece, and to His Eminence Metropolitan Nectarius of Kerkyra for the given opportunity to bring the honourable relics of the Holy Spyridon of Trimythous to Ukraine. 
2. To fix the following schedule of stay of the holy relics in Ukraine: 
 

• April 26 - May 10- Kyiv (April 26 - May 3- Kyiv Caves Monastery; May 3-10- the construction site of the Metropolitan's Cathedral of Resurrection of Christ);
· May 10-11   - Rivne;

· May 11-12   - Lutsk;

· May 13   - Ternopil;

· May 13-16   - Chernivtsi;

· May 16-18   - Vinnytsia;

· May 18-20   - Mykolayiv;

· May 20-22  - Simferopol;

· May 22-24  - Luhansk;

• May 24-26   - Donetsk.


3. To entrust His Eminence Pavel, Deputy Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra   with  organization of bringing the relics to Ukraine.

 4. To inform the hierarchs of the dioceses mentioned on the schedule of stay of the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimythous in Ukraine.   

 5. To entrust His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Donetsk and Mariupol with the provision of returning of the sacred relics to Greece.   

6. To entrust the Department of External Church relations of the UOC with overall coordination of bringing and stay in Ukraine of the relics of the Holy Hierarch Spyridon of Trimythous. 
 

JOURNAL № 03


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the celebration of the 450th anniversary of bringing of the Wonderworking Pochayiv Icon of the Mother of God to Volyn and 350th anniversary of invention of the incorruptible relics of the Venerable Job of Pochayiv. 

RESOLVED:
1. To take the information into consideration.
2. To raise gratitude to the Lord for His mercy, which He reveals through the prayerful intercession of the Most Pure Virgin Mary and the Venerable Job of Pochayiv. 


3. To establish a commission on preparation of celebration of the jubilee dates with the Most Reverend Volodymyr, Archbishop of Pochayiv, Vicar of the Kyiv Metropolis and Deputy Abbot of the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra at the head.  .
4. The commission should present the schedule of events connected with celebration of the 450th anniversary of bringing the Wonderworking icon of the Mother of God of Pochayiv to Volyn, and the 350th anniversary of invention of the incorruptible relics of the Venerable Job of Pochayiv. 

 

JOURNAL № 04


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of the Right Reverend Evlogy, Bishop of Sumy and Okhtyrka concerning  the theft of the  Wonderworking Korsun Icon of the Mother of God in the night of March 23/24, present year, from Holy Transfiguration Cathedral of Sumy.   



RESOLVED:
1. To take the information into consideration.

2. To express regret on the occasion of the theft of the  Wonderworking Korsun Icon of the Mother of God;  

3. To raise prayers to All-Merciful God and the Most Pure Virgin Mary on the earlier return of the holy icon;  
4. To turn to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yu.V.Lutsenko with request to take the conduct of the case under personal control and do all possible in order to find and return  the stolen Wonderworking Icon of the Mother of God of Korsun.  

 

JOURNAL № 05


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of the Chair of the Synodal Department for Charity and Social Ministry of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archdeacon Sergiy Kosovskyi on approval of the "Concept of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Development of Palliative Assistance in Ukraine". 
RESOLVED: to approve the presented draft of the Concept of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on Development of Palliative Assistance ion Ukraine". 

 

JOURNAL № 06


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of  the Most Reverend Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavryisk, head of the UOC Commission for Canonization of the Saints, on introduction to the church calendar of the UOC of the name of the Holy and Right-Believing Martyr-Prince Ioann of Putivl.   

RESOLVED:
1. To bless the introduction to the church calendar of the UOC of the name of the Holy and Right-Believing Martyr-Prince Ioann of Putivl.   

2. To commemorate the Holy and Right-Believing Martyr-Prince Ioann of Putivl on September 20/October 3.
 

JOURNAL № 07


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of  the Most Reverend Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavryisk, head of the UOC Commission for Canonization of the Saints, on glorification among the ranks of the locally venerated saints of the diocese of Simferopol of the ascetic of piety, hegumeness Paraskeva (Rodymtseva)   (+3. 12. 1928).

Having considered the life, labours and feats and taking into account the people's veneration of the ascetic of piety hegumeness Paraskeva (Rodymtseva),-

RESOLVED:
1. To bless local glorification and veneration of hegumeness Paraskeva (Rodymtseva).  
2. To approve icon image of the saint.  
3. To approve the presented drafts of troparion and kontakion to the Venerable Paraskeva of Toply.  
4. To consider the remnants of the Venerable Paraskeva of Toply to be the holy relics. 
5. To commemorate the Venerable Paraskeva of Toply on November 20/December 3.    
6. To raise thanksgiving prayers to the Lord, wonderful in His saints, who revealed a new woman of prayer for our Holy Church and our people.  

 

JOURNAL № 08


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of the Most Reverend Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavryisk, head of the UOC Commission for Canonization of the Saints, on glorification among the ranks of the locally venerated saints of the Diocese of Kherson the ascetic of piety, the Blessed Domnika Ivanivna Lykvynenko   (+10. 06. 1967).

Having considered the life, labours and feats and taking into account the people's veneration of the ascetic of piety the Blessed Domnika Ivanivna Lykvynenko   -

RESOLVED:
1. To bless local glorification and veneration of the Blessed Domnika Ivanivna Lykvynenko   .
2. To approve icon image of the saint. 
3. To approve the presented drafts of troparion and kontakion to the Blessed Domnika.
4. To consider the remnants of the of Oleshkiv to be the holy relics.   
5. To commemorate the Blessed Domnika  of Oleshkiv on May 28/June 10.  
6. To raise thanksgiving prayers to the Lord, wonderful in His saints, who revealed a new woman of prayer for our Holy Church and our people.  
 

JOURNAL № 09


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of the Most Reverend Ioann, Archbishop of Kherson and Tavryisk, head of the UOC Commission for Canonization of the Saints, on glorification among the ranks of the locally venerated saints of the ascetics of piety who fought a good fight in the Nativity of the Theotokos Hermitage of Hlynka: 


1. Schema-metropolitan Seraphim  (Mazhuga);
2. Schema-archimandrite Andronicus  (Lukash);
3. Schema-archimandrite Seraphim (Romantsov).

Having
considered the life, labours and feats and taking into account the people's veneration of the ascetic of piety mentioned, who fought a good fight in the Nativity of the Theotokos Hermitage of Hlynka   -

RESOLVED:
1. To bless local glorification and veneration of:
1) Schema-metropolitan Seraphim  (Mazhuga);
2) Schema-archimandrite Andronicus  (Lukash);
3) Schema-archimandrite Seraphim (Romantsov),
and to include them to the Synaxis of the Venerable Fathers of Hlynka.  
2. To approve icon image of the saints. 
3. To consider their remnants the holy relics. 
4. To commemorate them on the day of the Synaxis of the Holy Venerable Fathers of Hlynka, September 9/22.
5. To raise thanksgiving prayers to the Lord, wonderful in His saints, who revealed new men of prayer for our Holy Church and our people.  
 

JOURNAL № 10


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of the Most Reverend Augustine, Archbishop of Lviv and Halych on establishment of the local veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God of Terebovlya in the Diocese of Lviv. 

RESOLVED:
1. To bless local veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God of Terebovlya within the boundaries of the Diocese of Lviv;
2. To commemorate the Icon of the Mother of God of Terebovlya on the first week of October. 
 

JOURNAL № 11


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED
the report of the Most Reverend Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv on appointment of nun Eugenia (Mykyta) as abbess of the Nativity of the Theotokos Convent in the village of Lypcha (Khust district, the Transcarpathians region) with her elevation into the rank of hegumeness. 

RESOLVED: to appoint nun Eugenia (Mykyta) as Deputy Abbess of the Nativity of the Theotokos Convent in the village of Lypcha (Khust district, the Transcarpathians region) with her elevation into the rank of hegumeness.

JOURNAL № 12


The session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr of Kyiv and All Ukraine -

CONSIDERED the report of the Most Reverend Luka, Archbishop of Konotop and Hlukhiv on the dismissal of Archimandrite Herman (Tymonik) from the office of Deputy Abbot of the Sophrony-Molchensk Pechersk Hermitage of the Nativity of the Theotokos, the Diocese of Konotop and to appoint Archimandrite Nikolai (Polishchuk) Deputy Abbot of the Hermitage.

RESOLVED:
1. To dismiss Archimandrite Herman (Tymonik) from the office of Deputy Abbot of the Sophrony-Molchensk Pechersk Hermitage of the Nativity of the Theotokos, the Diocese of Konotop;
2. To appoint Archimandrite Nikolai (Polishchuk) Deputy Abbot of the Sophrony-Molchensk Pechersk Hermitage of the Nativity of the Theotokos, the Diocese of Konotop.
