Bishop Meletiy was born on July 17, 1962 in the family of salaried workers in GRP-21 of the Dzhambul region, Kazakhstan SSR. Since 1963 he lived in Kropotkin, the Krasnodar
territory.
From 1969 till 1979 studied in secondary school of
general education.
From 1980 he bore obedience of the reader and acolyte
in the Holy Protection Cathedral of Kropotkin, of the Krasnodar Diocese.
From 1981 till 1983 he served in the
ranks of the Soviet Army.
In 1983 he entered the
Moscow Theological Seminary from which he graduated in 1987.
In Septemberі 1986 he was enlisted to the brethren of the Holy Trinity
St.Sergius Lavra. On December 3 of the same year he was tonsured a monk by the
Deputy Abbot of Lavra Archimandrite Aleksey (now Archbishop of Tula and Belev).
On December 19, 1986 in the Holly Dormition Cathedral
of Vladimir he was ordained hierodeacon by Archbishop of Vladimir and Suzdal Serapion
(Fadeev, †1999).
On graduation from the Moscow Theological Seminary in
1987 he was assigned to the Diocese of Lviv and Ternopil, for replenishment of
brethren of the Holy Dormition Pochayiv Lavra.
In December 1990 - transferred to the clergy of the
diocese of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna and appointed secretary of the Chernivtsi
Diocesan administration.
In January 6, 1991 in the Holy Spirit Cathedral of
Chernivtsi he was ordained to the holy priesthood by Bishop (now Metropolitan)
of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna Onuphriy.
On July 24, 1992 he was elevated to
the rank of archimandrite.
In 1996 he completed the full course of the Moscow
Theological Seminary.
On July 30, 2006 in the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the
Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra consecrated Bishop of Khotyn, Vicar of the Chernivtsi
Diocese.
