Bishop of Konotop and Glukhiv Inokentiy was born on January 8, 1945, in the town of Horlivka, Donetrsk region, in a worker's family.  Upon completion of his studies at 7-year school from 1959 till 1961 he studies in a professional technical college and obtained a specialty of carpenter.  

In 1962 he graduated from the working youth's school.   

Throughout 1964- 1967 he did his military service in the ranks of the Soviet Army.  After the army discharge in 1968 he entered the Moscow Theological Seminary, and in 1972 - the Moscow Theological Academy. He worked as assistant at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. He graduated from the Academy in 1976 with a scientific degree of a Candidate of Theology for the research paper "Theological School of Alexandria".

From 1976 till 1977 he took a postgraduate course at the MTA.  

October 21, 1977 appointed teacher of the Odesa Theological Seminary and secretary of the Odesa Theological Seminary administration.   

October 21, 1977 ordained to the Holy Diaconate, December 4 - to the Holy Priesthood.  

March 2, 1979 tonsured a monk, was named in honour of the Holy Hierarch Innocent (Veniaminov), Metropolitan of Moscow.   

March 23, 1980 elevated to the rank of hegumen, in 1987 - to the rank of archimandrite.

On October 5, 1994 he was consecrated Bishop of Tulchyn and Bratslav.  

On May 30, 1999 he was appointed to the Episcopal See of Konotop.   
 

Activity at the Cathedra

By the time of arrival of Bishop Inokentiy to the diocese in 1999 many parishes underwent registration process. Since then the situation changed for the better.  The Holy Ascension Cathedral was repaired and painted, the heating system was installed, the territory of the Cathedral was coated with asphalt and settled in a civilized manner, and the Divine Liturgies are officiated there every day. 

Throughout these years several churches were built and consecrated: a church in the town of Shostka dedicated to the Holy Nativity of Christ, a church in the village of Bereza of the Glukhiv Deanery, a new bell tower was built at the Holy Transfiguration Church in Krolevets.  The following churches are rebuilt and consecrated: a church in the village of Volynstevo, Putivl Deanery, dedicated to Sts. Cyril and Methodius; one in the village of Dubovychi, Krolevets disctrict, one in the village of Kosatske, Konotop region, dedicated to the Holy Archangel Michael; a church dedicated to the Holy Transfiguration of Christ in Yampol.


On the whole 9 new churches were opened in the territory of the diocese, 6 of them consecrated with participation of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 2 monasteries  are being restored, and Sunday school function, which are still unfortunately rare.

- the Order of the Holy Equal to the Apostles Prince Vladimir of the 2nd  and 3rd degrees;

- the Order of the Venerable Sergius of Radonezh, the 2nd and 3rd degrees;

- the Order of the Nativity of Christ,  of the 1st degree; 

- the anniversary medal "10 years of the Kharkiv Council" of the 1st degree.
