KYIV-MOSCOW. Chair of the Synodal Information Department of the UOC participated in the work of the Collegium of the Synodal Information Department of the Russian Orthodox Church
At the invitation of the Chair of the Synodal Information
Department of the Russian Orthodox Church Volodymyr Legoyda and on the blessing
of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Chair of the Synodal Information Department
archpriest George Kovalenko took part in the work
of the Collegium of the
Synodal Information Department of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The members of the Collegium and the guests invited
exchanged ideas regarding the main strategic directions of the informational
development of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
noted that it was also due to the joint active work of the Moscow Patriarchy
and the Kyiv Metropolis with secular mass-media that the visit of His Holiness
Patriarch Kirill to Ukraine
was positively received by the Ukrainian society. At the
same time archpriest George pointed out the necessity of constant informational
support of the initiatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its hierarchy, and
also brought to the notice of those present that in its information policy the
Russian Orthodox Church should always regard that the Moscow Patriarchate is
larger than the Russian
Federation.
Discussing the strategy of informational development
of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Press-Secretary for the Primate of the UOC
also noted that the church mass-media were to be the instrument of conciliarity
and an active means of church communication.
Taking part in the session of the Collegiumof the
Synodal Department for Information of the ROC, presided over by the chairman of
the Department Vladimir Legoyda, were also chairman of the press-service of the
Patriarch Vladimir Vigilansky, deputy chairman of the Press-service of the
Patriarch deacon Alexander Volkov, chief director of the TV-Channel Soyuz
hegumen Dmitry Baibakov, head of the
Journalism Department of the Russian
Pedagogical Institute of John the Theologian hieromonk Dimitry (Pershin), head
of the communication service of the Department for External Church Relations of
the ROC Fr. George Zavershinsky, director general of the TV-Channel "Spas"
Boris Kostenko, Editor in Chief of the internet-portal "Orthodoxy and the
World" Anna Danilova, executive editor of "Journal of the Moscow Patriarchy"
and "Moscow Church Bulletin" (Moskovskyi Tserkovnyi Vestnik) Sergey Chapnin,
chairman of the Orthodox Jouranlists' Club and dchief director of the internet-portal
"Religion and Media" Alexander Shchipkov.
